In October of 2022, the first season of House of the Dragon left audiences with a sense of impending war as Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen found herself laced with rage and coming to a decision to battle for the throne. The second season suffered some delay due to last year’s dual union strikes, but wait no more. The new trailer from HBO prepares you for the inevitable war as both houses are preparing for the grand-scale conflict and lines are about to be drawn. House of the Dragon is set to premiere on SUNDAY, JUNE 16 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT) on HBO and available to stream on Max.

The returning cast from the first season of House of the Dragon includes Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans. Additional returning cast includes Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, and Matthew Needham.

New names that join the cast of this new season include Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull, Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers, Freddie Fox as Ser Gwayne Hightower, Simon Russell Beale as Ser Simon Strong, Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull, Jamie Kenna as Ser Alfred Broome, Kieran Bew as Hugh, Tom Bennett as Ulf, Tom Taylor as Lord Cregan Stark, and Vincent Regan as Ser Rickard Thorne.

George R.R. Martin, as always, will be credited on the show as Co-Creator/Executive Producer. He will be joined by Ryan Condal as Co-Creator/Showrunner/Executive Producer. Executive Producers on the season include Sara Hess, Alan Taylor, Melissa Bernstein, Kevin de la Noy, Loni Peristere and Vince Gerardis. House of the Dragon is based on George R.R. Martin’s popular novels, Fire & Blood.

Earlier this year, GoT creator George R.R. Martin, wrote on his blog about his traveling to the House of the Dragon production, where he began to develop ideas for seasons three and four. “I also spent two days locked in a room with Ryan Condal and his writing staff (Sara Hess, Ti Mikkel, David Hancock, and Philippa Goslett) talking about the third and fourth seasons of HOUSE OF THE DRAGON,” Martin wrote. “They were lively, fun discussions, and we got some good work done… though two days was not nearly enough. There is so much ground to cover that I am not sure twenty days would have been enough.“

Thanks to Netflix‘s upcoming animated series Exploding Kittens, Tom Ellis is trading his horns for a halo by becoming God after playing Lucifer Morningstar in the fan-favorite supernatural drama Lucifer. Netflix parted the heavens on Thursday to reveal an Exploding Kittens trailer, teasing the animated series based on the popular card game Matthew Inman, Elan Lee, and Shane Small created. Netflix’s Exploding Kittens is an adult animated series starring Tom Ellis and Sasheer Zamata as two rotund housecats on opposite ends of a holy war.

In Netflix’s Exploding Kittens trailer, God is transformed into Godcat (Tom Ellis) and cast down to Earth to live with a dysfunctional family while reconnecting with his humanity. Meanwhile, Beelzebub lives next door in the form of a tubby void cat prone to naps in sunbeams and zoomies at ungodly hours.

The Exploding Kittens trailer begins with God getting admonished by his angelic advisors for his lackadaisical attitude toward humanity. Instead of sending him to Earth as a human to reconnect with the species he helped create, he’s transformed into a bearded housecat and forced to live with a frazzled mother managing a household of dysfunctional individuals. Godcat is there to connect with the family and rediscover his humanity. However, what begins as an elaborate life lesson eventually turns into genuinely caring about the humans and wanting to understand their struggle. Unfortunately for Godcat, the Antichrist lives next door, and she’s doing her damndest to get in the way of Godcat’s plan.

Exploding Kittens, trailer, Netflix, animated series

The Exploding Kittens animated series is a companion to the mobile version of the wacky card game, which is exclusively available to Netflix subscribers. A physical version inspired by the show was released last year, and now the animated series is here to fan the flames.

Suzy Nakamura, Mark Proksch, Ally Maki, and Kenny Yates join Tom Ellis and Sasheer Zamata as Godcat’s human companions. The creative team for Exploding Kittens is out of this world, with the game’s co-creator, Matthew Inman, co-showrunning with Shane Kosakowski, a writer and producer on You’re the Worst and The MuppetsKing of the Hill‘s Mike Judge and Greg Daniels executive produce with their Bandera Entertainment partner Dustin Davis. Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping of the Chernin Entertainment Group also serve as executive producers.

I didn’t know what to think when I heard Netflix was getting behind an Exploding Kittens animated series, but now that I’ve seen the trailer, I’m a believer! Will you watch Exploding Kittens? Have you played the mobile version of the card game? Let us know in the comments section below.

The Bear, Season 3, Jeremy Allen White, Disney+, FX, teaser

It’s a big day for bears, as new details for Seth MacFarlane’s Ted and FX’s The Bear dominate the entertainment news cycle. The first teaser for The Bear Season 3 is here, alongside a first-look image and release date for the gourmet goodness coming to Disney+ in Canada on June 27.

In The Bear Season 3 teaser, Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) surveys a spotless kitchen while contemplating his next dish and what could go wrong as he turns the page on a new life chapter.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Bear Season 3 courtesy of Disney+:

Season three of FX’s “The Bear” follows Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), Sydney Adamu (Ayo Edebiri), and Richard “Richie” Jerimovich (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they do what it takes to elevate The Bear, their beef stand turned fine dining establishment, to the highest level, all while doing their best just to stay in business. It’s a losing battle every single day in the restaurant business. Carmy pushes himself harder than ever and demands excellence from his crew, who do their best to match his intensity.

Their quest for culinary excellence will propel the crew to new levels and stress the bonds that hold the restaurant together. As the team grows in size, each member will strive to reach a greater level of service within their role. In the restaurant industry, you’re never on solid ground, and with that ever-changing landscape comes new challenges and opportunities. Our chefs have learned that every second counts, but this season, we’ll find out if they have what it takes to make it to tomorrow.

The half-hour series also stars Abby Elliott, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Matty Matheson, with Oliver Platt and Molly Gordon in recurring roles.

There’s nothing more terrifying than not knowing where your next meal will come from, and in The Bear‘s case, the kitchen crew’s next meal could be served on the unemployment line at any moment. With Carmy cracking the whip, team members making more significant moves, and word of mouth about The Bear’s delectable dishes spreading faster than a kettle of soup that’s hit the floor, the next season of this pulse-pounding kitchen drama can’t come soon enough.

Are you excited for The Bear to return on June 27?

The Acolyte: Celebrate Star Wars Day with the new trailer and poster for the upcoming series https://www.joblo.com/the-acolyte-trailer-2/ https://www.joblo.com/the-acolyte-trailer-2/#respond Sat, 04 May 2024 15:44:13 +0000 https://www.joblo.com/?p=768062 Disney is celebrating Star Wars Day with a second trailer for their new series, The Acolyte.

The post The Acolyte: Celebrate Star Wars Day with the new trailer and poster for the upcoming series appeared first on JoBlo.

When the first trailer for Disney Plus’s new Star Wars series, The Acolyte, dropped this winter, it raked up more views in its first 24 hours than any other Star Wars series to date. However, it also happened to be their most disliked trailer to date on the platform, to the point that many accused online trolls of review-bombing the trailer. Even still, hardcore fans of the franchise seemed to meet the trailer with a bit of a shrug, so Lucasfilm and Disney are celebrating Star Wars Day (May the 4th) with a new, more-action driven trailer which makes it seem almost like a sci-fi version of a classic Kung-Fu film from the seventies.

Indeed, martial arts epics and samurai tales always influenced George Lucas when he crafted the original trilogy, so it makes sense that showrunner Lesyle Headland’s take on the franchise would make these elements more prominent than ever.

the acolyte trailer 2

As previously revealed, The Acolyte takes place generations before the events of the prequel films and centres around a Jedi master (played by Squid Game’s Lee Jung-Jae) who encounters a dangerous warrior (played by Amandla Stenberg) who seems to reveal dark secrets about The Force and the Jedi Masters. The trailer boasts lots of action and has a final reveal that should get fans talking, with Jung-Jae facing off with a Sith villain (sporting a red lightsaber) with a truly unsettling helmet design that could make this baddie a new fan favourite.

That said, some folks, understandably, are facing a little Star Wars fatigue, with the recent Ahsoka criticized for needing too much knowledge of expanded Star Wars lore to make sense. Headland previously teased that the show was designed so that you don’t have to know all the ins and outs of the expanded franchise to enjoy it, so maybe it’ll crossover to a broader audience. Or maybe not. We’ll have to wait and see.

Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), Dafne Keen (Logan), Charlie Barnett (You), Jodie Turner-Smith (Anne Boleyn), Rebecca Henderson (Russian Doll), Dean-Charles Chapman (Game of Thrones), Joonas Suotamon (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker), and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix Resurrections) co-star. The Acolyte releases its first two episodes on June 4th.

Do you like this trailer more than the first?

The trailer for season four of The Boys has arrived, with our first confirmation that it will have a crossover with spinoff series Gen V and that we will see the superheroes facing their greatest challenge yet.

In the trailer, we hear Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher tell his team, “I look back on my life, and all I see are the messes I’ve made…and I ain’t got time to fix it. I can do one thing right with the time I’ve got left, but I can’t do it alone. I can’t do it without you.” From here, we see that the team will be forced to come to terms with their celebrity, particularly how it will shift as they go on their next missions and evolve into “wrathful gods.”

This is a damn good trailer that builds even more hype for season four of The Boys, which has really picked up over the last few weeks. Last month, showrunner Eric Kripke confirmed that production had wrapped, adding that it may be the best season so far, complete with a scene “that miiiiiiight be the batshit craziest thing we’ve ever done.”

As for how season four of The Boys will crossover with Gen V, the trailer gives us looks at both supes Cate Dunlap (Maddie Phillips) and Sam Riordan (Asa Germann). With season five of The Boys already confirmed, here’s hoping we can get even more characters from both meeting up.

Here is the official synopsis of season four of The Boys, as per Amazon: “The world is on the brink. Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the muscly thumb of Homelander, who is consolidating his power. Butcher, with only months to live, has lost Becca’s son and the rest of The Boys are fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they have to find a way to work together and save the world before it’s too late.”

Season four of The Boys will kick off with a three-episode premiere on Amazon Prime Video on June 13th, with remaining episodes hitting the service every Thursday after.

What did you think of the trailer for season four of The Boys? How will it stack up against the first three?

Jake Gyllenhaal paints an idyllic picture of adultery in an intense-looking teaser trailer for the Presumed Innocent series https://www.joblo.com/presumed-innocent-teaser-trailer/ https://www.joblo.com/presumed-innocent-teaser-trailer/#respond Wed, 01 May 2024 16:49:47 +0000 https://www.joblo.com/?p=767313 Apple TV+'s Presumed Innocent teaser trailer finds Jake Gyllenhaal and Ruth Negga trapped in a downward spiral of adultery.

The post Jake Gyllenhaal paints an idyllic picture of adultery in an intense-looking teaser trailer for the Presumed Innocent series appeared first on JoBlo.

In Apple’s Presumed Innocent teaser trailer, Jake Gyllenhaal’s Rusty Sabich paints with a broad brush, making adultery sound like a fairytale in which the wolf wins, and love conquers all. Anyone who discovers their spouse leading a double life will tell you differently, and Rusty’s about to find out what it feels like when the wool gets pulled over his eyes. Today, Apple TV+ dropped a steamy and intense-looking teaser for Presumed Innocent, the limited series coming to the streaming service courtesy of David E. Kelley and J.J. Abrams.

Here’s the official synopsis for Presumed Innocent:

“Gyllenhaal is set to star as Rusty Sabich, a prosecutor whose world is upended when a close colleague is murdered — and the evidence begins to point to Rusty himself. The role would be his first ongoing part in a TV series. Presumed Innocent was previously adapted for a 1990 feature film that starred Harrison Ford as Sabich, along with Bonnie Bedelia and Raul Julia. Kelley’s version will be a reimagining of Turow’s novel that will explore, per the show’s logline, ‘obsession, sex, politics, and the power and limits of love, as the accused fights to hold his family and marriage together.”

“Love isn’t what people tell you that it is,” Gyllenhaal’s Rusty says in the Presumed Innocent teaser trailer. “In my experience, it’s just something that grows until one day you just find yourself needing someone.” As the footage plays, visions of Rusty canoodling with his mistress reflect a saucy dalliance that quickly spirals out of control, bordering on obsession. Rusty’s reality cracks as the wheel turns, resulting in defiance, destabilization, and death.

Inspired by the Alan J. Pakula-directed thriller of the same name, the original film starred Harrison Ford, Raul Julia, and Greta Scacchi. The newest version of Presumed Innocent hails from David E. Kelley (The Lincoln LawyerBig ShotGoliath) and J.J. Abrams (Lost, Super 8Star Trek), with Gyllenhaal and Ruth Negga commanding the drama.

Presumed Innocent revolves around a vicious murder that sends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorneys’ office reeling when one of their representatives becomes a suspect in the crime. Kelley’s version is said to investigate themes of obsession, sex, politics, and the power and limits of love as the accused fights to keep aspects of their life from falling apart.

Jake Gyllenhaal plays Rusty Sabich in the new series, the role previously played by Harrison Ford in the 1990 thriller. Ruth Negga will play Barbara Sabich, an artist, gallerist, mother, and wife whose life is upended when her husband, Rusty, is accused of murdering his mistress. Throughout the ordeal, Barbara wrestles with the fallout of her husband’s misdeeds, striving to keep her family close and heal her broken heart.

Kelley,  an actual attorney, wrote the series and serves as an executive producer and showrunner. Additionally, Abrams and Rachel Rusch Rich are executive producers for Bad Robot. Matthew Tinker executive produces through David E. Kelley Productions, with Gyllenhaal, Dustin Thomason, and Sharr White executive producing. Turow and Miki Johnson co-executive produce. Finally, Anne Sewitsky is directing and executive producing the first two episodes.

Presumed Innocent comes to order on Apple TV+ on June 12.

Max is bringing one of 2024’s most talked-about docuseries to its platform as a trailer teasing the Spacey Unmasked docuseries debuts. The preview drops almost one year since Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey was found not guilty of sex crimes. The U.S. presentation arrives courtesy of Channel 4 and Max, with Oscar-nominee Mike Lerner producing alongside ex-Channel 4 News boss Dorothy Byrne. The two-part docuseries begins airing on Monday, May 6 and concludes on May 7.

According to Channel 4, Spacey Unmasked “investigates Spacey’s conduct and talks to multiple men unconnected to [last year’s] case about their experiences with Kevin Spacey, almost all of whom have never spoken before.”

Spacey Unmasked, Kevin Spacey, Max, docuseries

Spacey Unmasked examines the famed actor from films like Se7enThe Usual SuspectsAmerican Beauty, and more through never-before-seen interviews and archive footage. The doc travels back to Spacey’s youth and early days on Broadway. It also reflects on the actor taking Tinsel Town by storm with commanding performances in several of Hollywood’s most memorable movies. The two-part series also delves into the allegations that led to Spacey’s downfall.

In 2023, Spacey was found not guilty on nine charges in London’s Southwark Crown Court, including sexual assault. Four men accused Spacey of sex-related crimes across a period of heated investigations. The cases brought against Spacey led to him getting blacklisted in Hollywood, with eyebrows raised any time he found a new role.

Spacey’s next film is the Massimo Paolucci-directed thriller The Contract. Spacey plays The Devil in the upcoming film. Details about the plot remain a mystery. Still, Paolucci told Variety Spacey’s character is akin to Al Pachino’s in The Devil’s Advocate or Robert DeNiro in Angel Heart, as a Satanic businessman who hires a seedy gumshoe detective to descend into Hell.

Massimiliano Caroletti and Sandro Lazzarini produce The Contract. The duo was so enthusiastic about getting Spacey into the movie that they reportedly “courted him” for eight months to convince him to play the role. Space has previously said that “people who aren’t afraid to be canceled were ready to work with him.”

“Welcome to Kingstown,” Jeremy Renner’s Mike McLusky says in a cool manner just after a clip of him throwing someone off a roof. No pussyfooting around it, the new trailer of the successful Paramount+ series premieres (courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter) declaring that “He’s back in business.” Fans and well-wishers of Jeremy Renner may have been following his updates on his health recovery since his horrific 2023 snow plow accident. It almost seems like he hasn’t missed a beat as Renner makes his acting debut since the incident for season 3 of Mayor of Kingstown. The actor would even convey his nervousness upon returning to work in social media posts earlier this year, “Day one on set … nervous today. Hope this works out that I can ACTUALLY pull this off for our production and more importantly the fans.“

The official synopsis of season 3 from Paramount+ reads,
“A series of explosions rock Kingstown and its citizens, as a new face of the Russian mob sets up shop in the city, and a drug war rages inside and outside prison walls. The pressure is on Mike McLusky (Renner) to end the war but things get complicated when a familiar face from his incarcerated past threatens to undermine the Mayor’s attempts to keep the peace among all factions.”

Renner is joined this season by Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Emma Laird, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Nishi Munshi, Hamish Allan-Headley and Michael Beach.

The series star had also opened up to The Hollywood Reporter as he prepared his comeback after his accident, saying, “There’s a wonderful gift in that, if you can hang on that superpower of [realizing] what has real value in our lives.” Renner mentioned his focus was on season 3 of Mayor of Kingstown, but he wouldn’t rule out further Marvel projects in the future. “All I can focus on is this. Doing television is quite arduous. It’s long hours and a lot of heavy lifting. So I’m just focusing on this right now and will see how I come out at the end of it. Because my number one priority still is my recovery and strengthening and just getting better, internally and externally, every day. And it has to be, to be able to go to work and participate in life in the world again. I’m allowing my body always to dictate what I can and cannot do in my life.”

The third season is scheduled to premiere on Sunday, June 2 in the U.S. and Canada before expanding out in international markets the next day.

As Prime Video’s post-apocalyptic saga Fallout steps out of the vault, Netflix‘s Sweet Tooth will end with a third and final season this summer. On Wednesday, Netflix dropped a Sweet Tooth Season 3 teaser alongside the show’s June 6, 2024, launch date and a gallery of photos. Sweet Tooth tells the story of the young hybrid, Gus (Christian Convery), and his human companion and protector, Tommy Jepperd (Nonso Anozie). Together, the duo traverses a wasteland overrun with enemy factions, mad scientists, rabid hybrids, and would-be friends who aid them in their mission to liberate hybrid kind from oppression, experimentation, and servitude.

Here’s the official synopsis for Sweet Tooth Season 3 courtesy of Netflix:

Having defeated General Abbot in the battle at Pubba’s Cabin, Gus (Christian Convery), Jepperd (Nonso Anozie), Becky (Stefania LaVie Owen), and Wendy (Naledi Murray) embark on a journey to Alaska in search of Gus’s mother, Birdie (Amy Seimetz), who has been working to uncover the mysterious origins of the deadly Sick. Along the way, they are joined by Dr. Singh (Adeel Akhtar), who may have his own dangerous beliefs about Gus and his role in reversing the virus. Meanwhile, a new threat emerges in the form of Helen Zhang (Rosalind Chao), her daughter Rosie (Kelly Marie Tran), and the ferocious Wolf Boys, who seek to restart human birth and view Gus as the solution to their plans. As they navigate through perilous terrain, Gus and his group of friends find refuge at the Outpost in Alaska, where they meet a new ensemble of characters, including Siana (Cara Gee) and her hybrid daughter Nuka (Ayazhan Dalabayeva). With the clock to find answers running out, alliances are tested, and destinies intertwine, all leading to a thrilling climax that will determine the fate of humanity and hybrids. Based on the DC comic book series by Jeff Lemire, Sweet Tooth is executive produced by Jim Mickle, Susan Downey, Robert Downey, Jr., Amanda Burrell, and Linda Moran. Warner Bros. Television produces the series.

Jim Mickle is the showrunner of Sweet Tooth, and executive produces. Speaking about the end of the series in May 2023, Mickle said, “In a lot of ways, it’s exactly the story that I imagined we would tell, and in a lot of ways, it takes on its own life. At the beginning, I think you set out to tell these landmark pieces of Gus’ story and the big pieces of the comic book, but the beauty of long-form storytelling and Gus’ journey over 24 episodes is the characters themselves tell you what they want to be. The crew and cast bring so much depth and point of view to who the characters are and where they’ve come from and where they’re going. Season three is an Arctic story with exciting new adventures and what we hope will be a satisfying conclusion to this epic tale. Gus is going to see a side of the world and humanity that he didn’t see in season one or two.”
